What organization does: A community-based non-profit. Volunteer tutors offer free one-to-one instruction to learners aged 16 and above to help them learn basic skills in reading, writing, and math. Also, tutors can help students prepare to take the GED test. Tutors go through a 12-hour training program using Laubach and other training materials. Tutors are encouraged to meet with their learners twice a week for an hour and a half each session. The program also contains an ESL (English as a Second Language) component.
